Apollo 11: a turning point
Apollo 11 will be a real turning point in the space conquest and in human history. Armstrong’s small step was that leap in confidence telling the world “if we can do this, we can do anything,” said Howard McCurdy, a professor of space and public policy at the American University .
The Apollo 11 mission was a turning point in history because it increased NASA's knowledge in space science. By completing the Apollo 11 mission, by taking Moon rocks and planting the American Flag, NASA completed "the race to the Moon." They were able to study the Moon ; what is it made out of? Is there life on the Moon? NASA also learn about other planets and made further exploration of the Milky Way and possibaly other galaxies in the universe. Today in 2015 NASA's technology has improved since the Apollo campain. Technology is more officient and reliable.
The scientific progress of the Apollo 11 mission helped to make the Skylab program, an orbital station possible. It aimed at demonstrating that a man can spend several months in space.

The Apollo 11 moon landing was the finish line in a decade-long space race started by the Soviet Union. And so the first steps on the moon made by an American had many meanings. Getting there first showed American technological superiority, but Armstrong mentioned mankind ,not Americans .Demonstrating that this was a moment for the people of Earth.
The giant leap in our society
Apollo 11 is permeated into our culture. The moon landing is in movies, television, books, songs and it was even Michael Jackson’s signature dance step. That’s probably because in some ways that Moonwalk touched something that has been hard-wired into humanity: the need to explore.
